3 Attributes of a Good Website

Businesses today need a website.  All businesses.  It doesn't matter if you are a small entrepreneur or a large corporation - if you sell products or services - if your customers are local or international.  Having a website establishes credibility and your customers expect it. 

I believe there are 3 attributes that define a good website.

1 Your site needs to look good

Your website is often the first thing people see of you and your business and it needs to make a good first impression.  When prospective customers visit your website they are making judgments about you and the quality of your products and services based on how your website looks.  If your site looks old and tired, if it looks like it was thrown together by an amateur, your business solutions may loose credibility in they eyes of your online visitors. 

2 Your website needs to be searchable

In today's business environment, your prospects will be looking online to find your business.  If they cannot find you, they will find (and do business with) your competition.   Many of the "free" or "cheap" website solutions may be slick and flashy but they cannot be optimized.  If a website cannot be found what good is your website? 

3 Easily updateable

Websites should be updated often.  This keeps customers interested and coming back.  It also helps your website position well in the search results.

I believe that business owners should not be held hostage to their web developers.  A good website should be easy for business owners to updated themselves - as often as they want to.
