Website Development Process

 There are several steps that go into building a site from start  to finish.  While every project may evolve slightly different, I have outlined the typical steps involved so you know what to expect.

1 Discovery Phase

We discuss your needs regarding what functions and features you need.  We discuss design ideas (colour, feel, imagery, etc.).  I will also need to learn what (if anything) you are currently using now;  do you currently have a website?  do you have a domain secured? This can be done over the phone, email or in person.

I provide you with a quote for the website.  A deposit of 50% of the project cost is due before we continue.  Please review the Terms and Conditions governing all projects.

2 Infrastructure Setup & Design

  • Setup website hosting environment
  • If you currently have a domain - provide me with the login information so I can make changes to the settings
  • Purchase / transfer your domain(s) as required
  • Install Joomla and database
  • Identify a pre-built design matching your requirements
  • Customize design to specs

3 Collect Content & Build Website

  • You send me your content and images and logo
  • I build the website

4 Review

  • Review website with you (usually over the phone or email)
  • Identify areas to be changed
  • Identify missing content required from you

5 Implement Changes & Final Review

  • Add items identified in Review
  • You review the website and confirm completion

6 Finalize Website

  • Optimize Website
  • Add Security Features
  • Test website for bugs across all major browsers
  • Final review of links, functionality and menus
  • Provide client with all account information
  • Provide administration training (if purchased)
  • Final Payment is due 

7 Warranty and Support

  • You have 10 days to identify any errors or omissions with your website
  • Discuss your ongoing support requirements and options available to you

** Note: If the project is delayed longer than 30 days from the start of Step 2 because of missing content or incomplete client feedback necessary for me to properly finish the website, the final payment will be due and the project will be placed on hold until I have collected the necessary items to continue.  During this holding period, the client is responsible for any website hosting charges, if they apply. **

Bronze Support

  • Up to 5 hours of support for 12 month

  • Premium response time ; (3 business days)
  • 4 website backups taken on a quarterly basis (every 3 months)
  • A minimum of 2 Software upgrades (Joomla, PHP, any affected components)
  • Additional support hours can be purchased as required at the Bronze Rate

Silver Support

  • Up to 10 hours of support for 12 month span

  • Premium response time ; (3 business days)
  • 4 website backups taken on a quarterly basis (every 3 months)
  • A minimum of 2 Software upgrades (Joomla, PHP, any affected components)
  • Additional support hours can be purchased as required at the Silver Rate

Gold Support

  • Up to 20 hours of of support for 12 month span

  • Premium response time ; (3 business days)
  • 4 website backups taken on a quarterly basis (every 3 months)
  • A minimum of 2 Software upgrades (Joomla, PHP, any affected components)
  • Additional support hours can be purchased   as required at the lowest, Gold Rate
